So, yes, I am a little late in bringing you some Easter cupcakes. And it’s going to be even later because I won’t have final pictures until tonight. But here are some sneak peeks:

That’s all you’ll get for now!

LOTS has been going on. My birthday was last Sunday and my husband and I took a trip to Vegas. LAS VEGAS – home of RETRO BAKERY! I am going to be honest here. Really the only reason why I wanted to go to Vegas was just to see Kari.

Retro Bakery!!!!

Honestly I could have left after that. It was such a FUN visit! Kari is just so fun and awesome and great and a wonderful cupcake maker. She is great with her customers, great with her employees. She is how I would want my shop to be. I could have stayed at her bakery all day long. And I almost did! LOL. Our visit ended up being 4 hrs and it wasn’t long enough. I could have stayed and closed shop with them. And by them I mean her kick ass cake making husband Brian.

He makes amazing cakes. I mean it!

Just look:

Ok back to Kari – we chatted, talked shop, I got to meet her two adorable kids Abbi and Lucy and got to meet her customers. I was ready to just move in. We talked as if we’d known each other for years. I also got to try out her cupcakes. Her delicious delicious cupcakes!

(in case your wondering, I pinched the tops of all the cupcakes off so I could taste the different buttercreams. I just couldn’t wait!)

If you are ever in Vegas, GO to her shop. You won’t regret it! They are THAT good.

So now I am counting down the days in my head when I can go visit again. Kari wrote a great blog about our visit which you can read here.

For the rest of the trip, my husband and I had a nice dinner at Mesa Grill, did some walking, gambled, lost, gambled a little more, won and did more walking. The weather was perfect, mid 60s, not too hot or cold. A bit windy (actually a lot windy). Nice to get a break and eat cupcakes someone else made for a chance.

We are heading down to San Diego this weekend to see the family and celebrate my birthday again with a wonderful sushi dinner at Harney Sushi in Old Town. Can’t wait!

Hope everyone has a hoppy Easter! Get it? Hoppy??

I crack myself up.

  1. WOW! I was just in Vegas a few weeks ago, and I had no idea about Retro Bakery. I’m so upset. I can’t wait to go back, just so I can go to the bakery. Their treats look amazing!
