Can you stand on your head?

I recently got an order for 1 dozen red velvet cupcakes decorated like Cheshire Cats from Alice in Wonderland. At first I was a little worried. I’ve never done so much detail before in fondant. And in freehand! I usually use cutters. But I think they turned out pretty good. I got the idea searching on Flickr.

I wish they came out more menacing but oh well.

They also ordered 1 dozen chocolate cupcakes decorated with black cats. These were much easier to make as I had a black cat cutter from Halloween. I just added some green eyes.

Busy weekend ahead. LOTS of orders including a Transformers birthday party, a Pink Lady birthday order, 4 dozen Groovy for another birthday order and chef themed cupcakes for a surprise party.

And speaking of standing on ones head, I have a cold right now. And it is really putting up a fight! So this is really the first time where I have to bake and I’m not 100%. I’m just making sure to make lots of lists so I don’t forget anything (as cold medicine makes me a little loopy sometimes). I think it will all work out but I will probably be exhausted by Saturday afternoon.

Til then…

  4. You’re very talented! I can’t draw/paint/bake worth a darn and you combine it all, plus work on computers. Zeesh! By the way, what’s “flikr” all about. I see it on my tools, but it requires downloading, etc. I’m new at this.

  8. Very cool! I’m really getting into this sort of thing and find flickr a very useful resource. My husband is also very helpful since he’s offered to occasionally make me cutters.
