Hello, kitty!

Because I don’t have enough to do (!!!) I decided to attempt making Bakerella’s recent cake pops in the shape of Hello Kitty.

They came out pretty good I guess…

Hello Kitty cake pops

I made chocolate cake and mixed it with cream cheese buttercream. And I used milk chocolate chips for the ears because the two stores I went to were out of white chocolate. You can’t really tell though. But if I were to make these again, I’d go with a lighter colored cake.

Were these hard to do? Well… that’s a good question. If you are striving for perfection (which I am always doing) then they were a bit of a pain in the ass to make. What you don’t see in that picture above is the 10 or so other Hello Kitty pops that have gone up to the Sanrio in the sky (or in my belly!). I won’t get into the gory details but I did curse a time or 10 while making these. It also took me 3 days total because I was working on them at night, after work, when I was tired. If you have a few hours to focus, then you can get these done in that time.

If you aren’t striving for perfection and you have a group of kids or friends to make them with, then definitely do it. They taste GREAT and in the end were pretty fun to make.

I think that I will just stick with cupcakes though.

Bakerella has lots of great posts about her pops. I hope she comes out with a book about them soon! I really love her cupcake shaped ones (of course).
