When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

We missed out on Halloween festivities this year because of something very sad that happened to us. My baby, dog baby, Klondike had to be put to sleep. I came home on Friday last week and found him laying on the floor of our kitchen and wouldn’t move. I was so upset and hysterical. Sobbing. He’s been going down hill for the past 9 months but just that morning he was happy and perky like every other morning he’s greeted me coming down the stairs. Waiting for his good morning cookie. We rushed him to the vet and the vet told us it didn’t look good but we brought him home anyway hoping that time still would heal him up. But all night long he just wimpered and yelped in pain and frustration. He stopped eating, drinking. He could only move his beautiful honey brown eyes. And we decided it was time.

Halloween! & One Year at the Market

Halloween mosaic

We’ll be selling our fun Halloween cupcakes and pushcakes at the farmers market this year. It also marks the 1 yr anniversary of us being at the Great Park Farmers Market. I can’t believe it’s been a year already! My oh my how things have changed since our first market. Lots of ups and downs through out the year. But we’ve stuck through it. I’ll be honest and say that it isn’t what I thought it would be, that’s for sure. I thought that we’d be selling more than we’ve been. But we’ve profited in other ways and if you are a small business baker too, you have to consider those things as well. Success isn’t just how much money you make.

Great Kitchen Reorg 2011

Since I work a full time job, plus manage my business on the side and tackle a long-ish commute every day, finding time to organize is at the bottom of my priority list. But the funny thing is that when I am un-organized, I waste more time and energy trying to find the things I need. It also costs me oodles of money too because I buy things I already have because I can’t find it.

Upcoming Events – Fall 2011

Holiday cupcake mosaic

Fall is here! (maybe) and we are participating in quite a few events this season. So far we’ve been accepted into:

OC Chocolate Festival – Nov 4 & 5

This festival is all about eating chocolate and drinking wines and coffees. Are you in? You must buy a ticket to attend but that ticket includes lots of free samples. We are going to be preparing some special treats just for this event, stuff we haven’t done before. It’s going to be really fun! There are two types of ticket packages:

GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS are $25 and are good for admission to the O.C. Chocolate Festival on your choice of Friday orSaturday, when you will receive eight chocolate samplings and three wine tastings.  General browsing, holiday gift shopping and entertainment are all included in the ticket price. Additional sampling tickets will be available at the event.

VIP PARTY TICKETS are for Friday night, Nov. 4, or Saturday night, Nov. 5.  The nights require separate tickets. Anyone can purchase a ticket to this event.  The party is in one of the separate expo rooms at the chocolate festival. Your ticket includes heavy hors d’oeurves, wine samplings, plenty of chocolate and live jazz.  Great night to come with special friends. VIP tickets are $50 per person per night.

Buy your tickets here.

San Diego Holiday Hit List – Dec 4

The Holiday Hit List is an annual event that is organized and hosted by the San Diego North Park Craft Mafia.  It is a holiday social and shopping experience – and it’s a FREE, all ages event.  You can stop by, listen to some music, and get your holiday shopping done in one place!  Doesn’t that sound great?

Free to attend!

Renegade LA Holiday Craft Fair – Dec 10 & 11

The 2nd Annual Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Market in Los Angeles returns to Los Angeles State Park on December 10 + 11, from 10am – 5pm, to supply all your handmade holiday shopping needs! Always free-to-attend and featuring over 200 artists, shoppers are sure to find something for everybody on their lists or can craft a special gift themselves at one of our terrific hands-on crafting workshops! A handful of LA’s best independent food trucks will be on site serving up delicious dishes and our bar will have many holiday libations!

Free to attend!

We are still waiting to hear back if we got into Patchwork Festival and we’ll report back when we (hopefully) do!

You can stay up-to-date on where to find us by liking our Facebook page. You can add the events to your calendar here.

Barnyard cupcake tower for a 2nd birthday

Barnyard cupcake tower

We were hired to put together a barnyard or farm theme cupcake tower for a cute little boy turning 2. I hope we didn’t disappoint! These were so fun to make! I loved making the animal pieces and then the animal sounds. I thought that would be perfect for a 2 yr old! We topped the tower with a custom cake with a barn and some clouds and grass. I love when it all comes together so well!
